We are pleased to be adding Music & Memory to our library services. Music & Memory is a non-profit organization that connects music with long-term memory. Our favorite songs are forever linked to our personal memories and can prove to be a great comfort for people suffering with dementia or Alzheimer’s. Our new Music & Memory service offers customized music on iPod Shuffles for eligible individuals as a source of comfort and an effort to connect with past memories. These Shuffles are tailored to the individual’s personal musical preferences and are available for loan. Please email adults@connetquotlibrary.org for more information.
Connetquot Public Library is proud to sponsor several Little Free Libraries throughout the community, located at Byron Lake, Bohemia Recreation Center and at Lake Ronkonkoma off Rosevale Avenue. These small public cabinets are designed to foster a neighborhood book exchange with the aim to inspire a love of reading and spark creativity.
A group of friends, a great book, and a free-flowing discussion are all you need for a fun book club. Now your library can help you experience this with our new Book Club in a Bag program. We’ll supply you with the books and questions for 10 members and even give you ideas on how to start a great discussion group. All you need to supply are the friends and a place to meet.
We’ve chosen our favorite titles from previous library book discussions to create the bags. One person from your group will check out the bag which contains 10 copies of the book and discussion questions. The bag is checked out for six weeks and the person checking it out is responsible for all the contents. Stop by the reference desk with any questions or to obtain a Book Club in a Bag for your group.
