LSMA Foundation, Inc. 2017 "Person of the Year Award" - Susan Doyle

On April 28, 2017, Susan Doyle, former librarian for the La Salle Military Academy (a Catholic military boarding school situated in Oakdale, New York from 1926 to its closure in 2001) was honored with the La Salle Military Academy Foundation’s “Person of the Year Award.” The award was presented during the LSMA Foundation’s “Annual Stag Reunion” held at Leonard’s of Great Neck. During her acceptance speech, Sue described to the alumni all that she had learned through her time as librarian at the academy. To hear the details of her experience at La Salle and her “librarian lesson” to all, click on the link. We have also included Sue’s biography, which was printed in the LSMA 2017 Reunion program booklet.

During the event, Paul Cancelliere, recipient of the Anthony J. Cutrona Distinguished Alumni Award, for his military service as an infantry officer and his advocacy for troops and their families, presented Sue with a volume of the Long Island’s Prominent North Shore Families, as a donation to the Connetquot Public Library. We greatly appreciate Mr. Cancelliere’s gift to our growing local history collection.
